We play a variety of Blues, R&B and Rock.     The band consists of me on harp and lead vocals, Pat Lancaster on guitar and vocals, Harry Thoman on bass and we’re showcasing different drummers.  Our song list has songs from Clapton, Freddie King,  Ben Harper , Muddy Waters,  Albert King and many more.

Look for us around the Dallas area and stop in and take a listen.   I’ll have some music on the site soon.

Thanks and stay cool!

I haven’t updated this page in forever but here goes.  It’s the beginning of April and Second Hand Smoke has just completed 6 months of jamming at Dat’s Good BBQ in Lewisville.  This jam has been an overwhelming success.  We always have tons of jammers and everbody has a blast.  The fact that Dat’s is BYOB makes it an even better treat.  You get to spend more on BBQ and the tip jar..

Lot’s of our friends show up all the time.  Tony Gomez, Joseph Caldicott, and regulars and we always enjoy their playing.  We have some of the finest lady vocalist in town  come through.  Yoyo Collins, Andrea Dawson, Melba Stevens, Lee McMahon, Jackie Hall,  Gloria “Diva G” D’Arezzo and Blue Lisa just to name a few.  Other local luminaries include Big Bob Fisk, Brent Rozell, Lenno Summers, Slammin Sammy, John Echols (who also subs when we need a bass player) and his lady friend ‘Delilah’, .

I know I’ve left people out but I wanted to get a quick update to the site.

We’re at Dat’s every Fridayand we have some other gigs coming up.  We’ll be in Allen at The Villages in Allen for the Groovin at the Grove concert series.  Our dates there are April 17th, May 8th,  and May 22nd.  We’re also at Strokers on April 24.  Hope to see you soon and I’ll update the site more often.

Last week I got a call from my good friend Chris Smeaton.  Chris and his sons comprise the band “the Smeetones”.   They were asked to sub at Dat’s Good BBQ in Lewisville but couldn’t make it.  He said if we weren’t booked to call Dianne and see about playing.  To make a long story short, we got booked,  played this past Friday and tore the roof of the mother.  We literally had a house full.   People sang along, played, danced (at one point the dance floor was full) and fully enjoyed themselves.

Many of our good musician friends who weren’t working showed up.  Melba Stevens, Lee McMahon, Paul Miller, Jeff, Tony, Drew and on an on.  It was a high energy show and no one left unsatisfied.  The food was incredible (as it always is at Dat’s), the music off the chain and frankly I hated it to end.

Anyway, we will be at Dat’s Good BBQ in Lewisville every Friday through October and maybe more.  Dat’s is a great place run by wonderful people and is BOYB.  Did I say BYOB??  Yes I did.  Dat’s is at 1168-B WEst  Main Street, one block west of  Lewisville High School.   The number is 972.219.2244.  Come and eat, drink, be merry, play some music, listen to some music and have just a great time.  And if I didn’t mention it before, Dat’s is BOYB.  Save yourself some change.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Second Hand Smoke just got back from a week off and the Fat Tuesday Jam was off the chain.  We had a lot of new players come through (sorry no pics, my camera died) and we rocked the house.

Dallas Divas Jackie Hall, Shelia Williams, Stephanie Garcia and Miss Delilah came by and were so hot I thought I was going to have to grab the fire extinguisher.  They sang everything from some Stevie Wonder to Chaka Kahn, mellowed us out with some “My Funny Valentine” and kept on rocking.  Stephanie brought a couple her band members (Aurora Bleu) Richard Hicks and Tim Cannon and they did a couple of great sets follwed by Blu doing his “Rubbin It” thing with Jason stepping in on keys.

Chuck Mayo brought his keyboard (thanks Chuck) Rob Greene was subbing for us on bass and Troy Richards picked up admirably on drums since Phil was out of town and neither one of these guys missed a beat.  Thanks much.  Rounding the whole thing out on Sax was Patrick Sullivan who added some great feeling and spice to the set.

John Echols showed up and played some mean bass while regular jammer young Tony Gomez (16 years old) tore the stage up with newcomer Josheph Candicott (15 years old).  We really appreciate Tony’s foks Sonia and Juan for their support and bringing Tony out and much thanks to Richard for bringing his son Joseph out.

I hope I didn’t forget anybody, but if you missed it, you really missed a show.  These musicans really did it last night.  The vibe, the energy, the electricity was mind blowing.  Most people didn’t leave until closing time.

Well, thats all for now, hope to see more of these folks and others next week.  Mardi Gras Fat Tuesday open jam.  8:00  Stemmons (I35E) between Medical District Dr and Inwood.  Don’t miss it…..

Thanks,

Kenny

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++Last night the jam at Gator’s Mardi Gras was a blast.  Again we had jammers all night.  Thanks to all that came out.  Young Tony on the guitar (16 years old and alread a killer player), all the members of Sol Witness, Chris Sr. and Chris Jr. Rob Green, Kim (harp)…and I apolgize if I’ve missed anyone but thanks for supporting us.    We’ll be doing it again next week and it looks like the move to 8:00 work well.

If you haven’t made it out yet, you’re missing a great jam.  Many folks come early to eat and everbody loves the food.  The room has  a great vibe, great acoustics and if you step outside to smoke you can still see the stage and hear the music.

Hope to see you soon………………………Kenny

I haven’t updated the page in a couple of week but new pics are up from the last 3 jams and we had lots of fun.   We played on the patio for a couple of weeks and it was great.  Huge stage, fountains on the right and left, lights, cool breeze.   Much thanks to the regulars Rob and Troy and Tony Gomez.  Tony is a 16 year old guitar phenom.  His very cool parents Juan and Sonia bring him out each week and it’s a treat to listen to him play and to play with him.  Many thanks to Juan and Sonia.

Another talented young man is Elliot on drums who kicks some major tail.  His dad Ellis brings him from East Dallas each week and we have a great time playing with this young cat.  Thanks to Elliot and Ellis and keep coming guys.  You really make us old guys work hard to keep up

Last week a couple of the local divas showed up.  Andrea Dawson and Melba Stevens lit the place up.  Those two ladies are always welcome on my stage.   Nice to bring talent and beauty into the mix.

We’ve had a couple of additional acoustic acts.  Shelton and Dale played some acoustic guitar and harmonica last night for a nice mellow interlude.  Thanks guys.  Also thanks to Edward and Bobby (no, not the Kennedy brothers) for sitting in on drums and guitar to close the place last night.    Almost forgot to thank drummer Jeff for driving out from Roanoke to hang with us.  Great chops man.

Last night’s jam was a blast again.   A lot of the regulars came through and some new faces.  Young Tony Gomez graced us with his presence again.   Dale and Shelton of Isaac’s Fallen came back again and did some covers and some of their original stuff which was outstanding.

My good friends Kevin Edwards and Peabody came by a jammed up a storm.  Bobby and Edward came back through and brought a couple of new cats, Brock and Nick.   These guys are awesome.  Switching off on guitar and bass, vocals and they had some great tunes.

We also had a cat from ‘somewhere North of Washington D.C.’ named Lance who had this beautiful Gibson Night Hawk that was smoking.  Thanks for stopping in Lance.

Thanks to everyone, the regulars, semi-regulars and even those who just stop by on occasion.  The jam is going good and we look forward every week.

THERE WILL BE NO FAT TUESDAY JAM @ MARDI GRAS ON TUESDAY AUGUST 4.  THE NEXT JAM WILL BE ON TUESDAY AUGUST 11.  SEE YOU THEN…….Kenn

Thanks to everybody for coming thr
